How do I register?

We’ve tried to make the process as easy as possible. With just a few clicks you can register a mySMILE personal page or a mySMILE team page:

  • Click Start a Fundraiser
  • Choose your mySMILE initiative
  • Are you creating a personal page? Or starting a team?
  • Follow the steps in the registration form

Is there a registration fee?

No, there is no registration fee. We do encourage you to kick off your personal fundraising by making a personal donation to your mySMILE page.

How do I join an existing team?

  • Click on Support A Fundraiser
  • Search the existing team name
  • Click on Join Team
  • Follow registration form

Do I have to raise a minimum amount to participate?

No, you do not have to raise a minimum amount to participate in a mySMILE fundraising initiative.

I am having trouble registering. Who do I contact?

FUNDRAISING

How will my money be used?

We invest donations responsibly and effectively, saving and transforming the lives of tens of thousands of children and their families in dozens of countries. Our administrative costs are approximately 7%, well below average for the charitable sector.

Since we launched in 2011, nearly 70% of the donations we receive go directly to funding our life-saving programs. This percentage is comparable to other international, child-focused organizations of whom you might be aware. We’re very proud of this achievement and hope to improve on it in the years to come.

The remainder is reinvested in revenue-generating activities. Please understand that raising funds is critical to our capacity to survive and continue helping children. We are only able to carry out our vital work by asking caring people like yourself to join us and help create a world where no child suffers from lack of access to safe surgical care.

How do I donate to support a participant or a team?

  • Click on Support A Fundraiser
  • Search the person’s first or last name or team name
  • Click Search
  • Click on the person or team to go to their mySMILE fundraising page
  • Click on Donate

Will I receive a tax receipt for my donation?

Yes, donations of $20 or more are tax receipted. Tax receipts will be emailed to you promptly after you make your online donation. If you choose to donate by cheque, tax receipts will be mailed annually in late January or upon request by calling our Head Office at (647) 696 - 0600.

Please note the name of the person or team you are sponsoring in the memo line of the cheque.

I haven’t received a tax receipt for my donation. What should I do?

We would be happy to assist you. Simply email us at mySMILE@operationsmile.org or give us a call at (647) 696 - 0600.

I entered the wrong donation amount? How do I fix it?

We’ve got you covered! Please email mySMILE@operationsmile.org or call us at (647) 696 - 0600. We will make the correction for you.

I have received cash/cheque donations. What should I do with them?

  • Log into your mySMILE participant centre
  • Click “Enter a new gift”
  • Enter the contact information for the donor and gift information
  • Choose the payment type
  • Click “Add”
  • Add another gift, or log out

Once you refresh your mySMILE page, the gift will show up as part of your fundraising goal.

Please let us know when you add offline gifts to your page so that we can properly reconcile your giving.

Note: We prefer and encourage you not to send cash via mail. Consider taking the cash to the bank and getting a money order or writing a cheque from your personal account.

How do I get a mySMILE fundraising kit?

You can download the individual forms and posters from the bottom of the mySMILE website www.operationsmile.ca/mySMILE or send us an email at mySMILE@operationsmile.org.

Help, I forget my password or having trouble logging in

The fastest way to fix the issue is to request a new password. Click on Forgot Username and/or Password on the login page. Then follow the steps to request a password reset.

How do I change my online fundraising goal?

  • Log into your mySMILE participant centre
  • Click on the Progress Tab
  • Under your goal amount click on Change
  • Enter the new goal amount
  • Click Submit

How do I change the picture on my personal fundraising page?

  • Log into your mySMILE participant centre
  • Click on the Personal Page tab
  • On the right hand side click on the Photos link
  • Click on Choose File button and find the picture you want to use
  • Click Save/Upload

How do I change the messaging on my fundraising page?

  • Log into your mySMILE participant centre
  • Click on the Personal Page tab
  • Here you can update your page title and the messaging
  • Click the Save button

How do I send an email to my personal network from my online Participant Centre?

If you want to use a pre-written template:

  • Log into your mySMILE participant centre
  • Click on the Email tab
  • Enter your future supporters’ names and email address in the “To:” field
  • To enter multiple email addresses, use a comma in-between addresses
  • Click on Use a Template and choose “mySMILE begins with you”
  • Then hit Send at the top of the page

If you want to write your own email:

  • Log into your mySMILE participant centre
  • Click on the Email tab
  • Enter your future supporters’ names and email address in the “To:” field
  • To enter multiple email addresses, use a comma in-between addresses
  • Enter your subject line in the Subject field
  • Write your email
  • Then hit Send at the top of the page

Can I send a Thank You email to my donors?

Absolutely, and we definitely encourage you to do so.

  • Preview and send your message

How do I post my personal fundraising page link to my social media platforms?

  • Log into your mySMILE participant centre
  • Copy your personal fundraising page link
  • Log into your social media account of choice
  • Write your post - add a personal message to the post and paste your personal fundraising page link
  • Click Share/Post
